Indications/Uses

Hormone receptor +ve advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Adjuvant treatment of hormone receptor +ve early invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women, & who have received 2-3 yr of adjuvant tamoxifen.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult including elderly Recommended dose: 1 mg once daily. Postmenopausal women w/ hormone receptor +ve early invasive breast cancer Recommended duration of adjuvant endocrine treatment: 5 yr.

Overdosage

Special Precautions

Not to be used in premenopausal women. May cause bone mineral density reduction w/ possible consequent increased risk of fracture. Assess at commencement of treatment, & regular intervals thereafter in women w/, or at risk of osteoporosis. Galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Avoid co-administration of tamoxifen or estrogen-containing therapies. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Moderate & severe hepatic impairment. Severe renal impairment. Not recommended for use in childn & adolescents. Not to be used in boys & girls w/ growth hormone deficiency.

Adverse Reactions

Headache; hot flashes; nausea; rash; arthralgia/joint stiffness, arthritis, osteoporosis; asthenia. Anorexia, hypercholesterolaemia; somnolence, carpal tunnel syndrome, sensory disturbances (including paraesthesia, taste loss & perversion); diarrhoea, vomiting; increased alkaline phosphate, ALT, AST; alopecia, allergic reactions; bone pain, myalgia; vag dryness & bleeding.
