Contents
Thiamine mononitrate (vit B1) 10 mg, riboflavin Na phosphate (vit B2) 2 mg, nicotinamide (vit B3) 20 mg, pyridoxine HCl (vit B6) 2 mg, folic acid (vit B9) 400 mcg, cyanocobalamin (vit B12) 10 mcg, ascorbic acid (vit C) 150 mg, Fe 60 mg (equiv to Fe sulfate 200 mg), Ca 13 mg (equiv to Ca lactate 100 mg)
Indications/Uses
Maternal & fetal supplemental care. Prevention & treatment of vit B6, folic acid, & Fe-deficiency, & megaloblastic anemia during pregnancy, lactation, menstrual blood loss & neural tube defects. Enhances body's resistance to different stresses & diseases. Improves blood circulation. Helps prevent risk of developing gestational hypertensive disorders (pre-eclampsia), preterm birth & promotes fetal bone development.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components & cobalt. Patients w/ renal dysfunction, sarcoidosis, arrhythmia, hemochromatosis, & hemolytic anemia.
Adverse Reactions
GI side effects (eg, gas bloating, stomach cramps, diarrhea, constipation, black tarry stools), increase in urination, hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria & kidney stones.
Drug Interactions
Vit: Drugs w/ same content, NSAIDs, anticoagulants, cyclosporine, fluorouracil, insulin, phenytoin, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, MTX, milk, Al & Cu prep, phenobarb & levodopa. Fe sulfate: Antacids, chloramphenicol, levodopa, levothyroxine, penicillamine, quinolones, cefdinir, dimercaprol, H2 receptor antagonists, PPIs, tetracycline, & dairy products. Ca: Increases urinary excretion w/ high Na & protein intake. Reduced absorption w/ caffeine & alcohol. Reduces therapeutic effect of Ca-channel blockers (eg, nifedipine & amlodipine). Decreases absorption of quinolones, levothyroxine, phenytoin & tetracycline.
